Spring-cleaning must-haves
Throw open the windows for some fresh air, put on some tunes, and tackle your to-do list with products that make the work faster and easier. As you develop your plan of attack, make sure you have all the equipment and supplies you need so you don’t have to interrupt your work to run to the store.
Floors: A powerful vacuum, whether it’s a heavy-duty upright or lightweight stick vacuum, can help make sure every inch of your home’s floor is free of dust and dirt. Follow by scrubbing away winter grime with a mop and self-wringing bucket set. Alternatively, consider a robot vacuum that can do both. Pet hair: If you have pets in your household, look for vacuums that feature multiple attachments designed to deal with pet hair. For a more hands-off approach, try a robot vacuum with a funnel opening for extra pet hair collection. Sinks, toilets, and tubs: Power through the least-pleasant cleaning tasks by opting for electric spin scrubbers. Telescoping arms and an assortment of brushes help make the job easier on your arms and back. Dust: Spring cleaning is a great time to dust areas that might not get much attention the rest of the year. Take everything off your shelves for a thorough dusting. Remember to get your window blinds, ceiling fan blades, bathroom fans, ceiling corners and baseboards. Outdoors: Freshen up patios, driveways and outdoor furniture with a pressure washer. Look for a lightweight electric model with a long cable so it’s easy to move around. Make sure any gardening tools, from your lawn mower down to your hand trowel, are accessible and ready for the season. Get organized: Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to tackle any clutter that’s piled up. Toss expired food from your pantry, organize your garage and create homes for kids toys. Get rid of items you don’t need or use and store the rest in bins or baskets.
